The Leaders in Training (LIT) Conference is one of our favourite BYTE events!

We invite two youth from Yukon communities, Atlin (BC) and areas of NWT to attend and represent their home community in order to hone their leadership skills and build experience and confidence. Youth participate in leadership initiatives and workshops, build relationships with other Northern youth, hear guest speakers and do what BYTE does best: play Games! At the end of three days, youth return home as emerging young leaders in their communities.

This year’s LIT Conference is our 7th annual. The conference will be held in a beautiful wilderness setting at the Land of Plenty on the Dempster Highway in the traditional territory of the Tr’ondek Hwech’in First Nation. In keeping with the theme, Storytelling out on the Land,” workshop topics will focus on wilderness skills, language and well-being. Young guest speakers and local elders will be invited to offer storytelling and inspiration to participants.  BYTE facilitators will also offer workshop activities and land-based games.

Applications are open for youth ages 14-18 years old until February 8th, 2019! Please note that spots are limited initially to two youth per community.

If you have suggestions for what you would like to see take place or are interested in donating/sponsoring this year’s LIT Conference, feel free to get in touch with us at or (867) 667-7975.
