BYTE and Frostbite are back with the annual Battle of the Bands! Every year, young musicians have a chance to compete with other local musicians for great prizes and some well earned acknowledgment. Do you know any local musicians? Make sure to let them know! The Battle of the Bands will be on Friday, February 15th 2013 during the Frostbite Music Festival. Frostbite Music Fest is held at the Yukon College and the Battle will be taking place in the Woodshed of the college.
This is a great opportunity for any young musician to get a shot at playing main-stage for Frostbite and also to win amazing prizes such as: studio recording time and video and photography shoots. Previous winners of the Battle of the Bands have gone on to receive national recognition and gain positive momentum in their musical careers. BYTE is looking for musicians under 30 years of age to submit for this year’s Battle of the Bands as it is a youth Battle. Whatever your style, whatever you play, we are looking for you!
Musicians have until January 1st to submit for the Battle and all submissions can be made to bands@www.yukonyouth.com or dropped off at the BYTE office (2- 407 Ogilvie Street). MP3’s or CD’s are the preferred format for submissions since we will need those formats for the radio and social media. Once all submissions have been made we will be kicking off our online voting campaign to determine who will be playing closest to the headliner! Friends, family and everyone else will be able to vote for their favourite song and preview bands that will be performing in this year’s Battle.
Seating is limited for the venue so make sure to get your tickets from the BYTE office – tickets go on sale on January 2nd. Frostbite Music Festival Weekend Pass Holders will be able to gain entrance into Battle of the Bands, but preference will be given to Battle of the Bands Ticket Holders since it is an all ages event and allows access only to the Battle.
BYTE is also looking for volunteers for event security, which is a great way to take in the great music and also give to a great cause and fun evening!
