Calling all young Yukon musicians! Battle of the Bands is happening on Friday, September 18, 2015—and we need your submissions!

If you’re under 30 and interested in competing in Battle of the Bands, record your three best songs and send recordings and a short band bio (50-100 words) to bands@yukonyouth.com, as well as a list of band members and their instruments. The deadline for submissions is August 31, 2015.

BYTE has been running the Battle of the Bands for years, but this year’s event will be a little bit different. BYTE and the Yukon College are combining Battle of the Bands and Future Routes to create one big night to kick off the school year. Bands will play and compete for great prizes in front of panel of judges, and the Future Routes headliner will close the show.

Past Battle of the Bands winners have gone on to play at Dawson City Music Festival, Atlin Arts and Music Festival, and even tour around the country. This month, 2013 Battle of the Bands winner Vision Quest is touring to major cities in eastern Canada. Last year’s winners, The Midnight Sons, have toured around BC and even landed themselves a set at this year’s Sunfest Country in the Cowichan Valley.

Battle of the Bands is a great opportunity for young Yukon musicians to gain exposure, and with this year’s Future Routes headliner, it’ll definitely be a night to remember.
