IMG_9346-resizedLadies and gentlemen…introducing Angela Code!

Angela started her new job as BYTE’s Whitehorse Outreach Coordinator last week, and was immediately thrust into Future Routes planning and organizing our fall workshop schedule. She’s already done a great job picking up the slack and introducing new ideas, and we’re really excited to work with her.

Angela has a degree in First Nations studies and First Nations languages and linguistics. Her passion for language revitalization, environmental conservation, and youth empowerment make her a huge asset to the BYTE team.

Angela is Sayisi Dene First Nation and spent her childhood at the fly-in reserve of Tadoule Lake, Manitoba. At age 10, her and her family moved to Whitehorse, and she’s been a part of this community ever since.

“I’m excited to work for BYTE because it has a great reputation in the Yukon, and I’m really excited to provide and help organize relevant programming and events for youth,” says Angela.

Angela is replacing Allison Furniss, who was BYTE’s Whitehorse Outreach Coordinator for over a year. Whether she was coming up with new ideas for an event or gaining cool points among BYTE staff, Allison brought a lot of energy to her job and we’re sad to see her go. Allison is now in the Student Engagement Coordinator position at the Yukon College, and we’re looking forward to working with her as a partner for Future Routes and other collaborations with the College.

Welcome to the team, Angela!
