That’s right, you heard it—the Battle of the Bands is back! BYTE and Frostbite Music Festival are excited to announce that we’ll be hosting Battle of the Bands on January 31st, 2014. But before we can do that, we your help!
We’re asking any Yukon musicians under age 30 who want to participate to send us submissions. If you play music, or know someone who does, record your three best tracks and send them to BYTE at bands@www.yukonyouth.com or drop off recordings at the BYTE office at #2-407 Ogilvie St. From there, we’ll choose the best submissions and form another amazing lineup for the Battle of the Bands.
We prefer if you send us MP3 files, but you can also send us YouTube videos, SoundCloud clips, CDs or whatever other format you have recorded. We also ask that you send us a short bio (50-100 words) about your band, as well as a list of all band members and their instruments. The deadline for submissions is January 17th, 2014.
The contestants will compete on stage in front of a panel of judges for a ton of great prizes. The band that takes first place will also gain the opportunity to play at one of this year’s Rendezvous events.
Past winners and participants of Battle of the Bands have gone on to play at Dawson City Music Festival, record albums, and gain momentum in their musical career. Last year’s winners, Vision Quest, have played at Dawson City Music Festival, submitted a song to CBC’s Song Quest for Canada’s new hockey song (by the way, have you voted for them yet?), and performed at several other festivals and events since their debut at Battle of the Bands.  It’s an awesome opportunity for young Yukon musicians to get their foot in the door, and it makes for a fun, all-ages event for participating bands and audiences alike.
